BIOGRAPHY

M J Turner is an Adelaide-based musician, guitar teacher, and arts facilitator whose multidisciplinary practice celebrates creativity as a pathway to wellbeing.

With more than 25 years of experience, Mark “M J” Turner has performed on stages from Australia’s spiritual heart, Uluru, to Britain’s Isle of Wight, blending gritty Blues, classic Rock, and World rhythms into a sound that’s unmistakably his own.

A teenage discovery of Jimi Hendrix, Santana, and Stevie Ray Vaughan sparked his lifelong love of the guitar and led him deep into the roots of the Blues, studying legends such as Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, John Lee Hooker, and R. L. Burnside.

Today he shares that passion with students around the globe through dynamic online guitar lessons.

However, Mark’s creativity extends well beyond music.

In 2015 he moved to the remote APY Lands to become Studio Manager for Tjungu Palya Arts, an experience that profoundly shaped his artistic and professional growth.

Since then he has built a reputation as an accomplished arts facilitator, specialising in studio design, professional development, and community arts projects with organisations including Tjungu Palya Aboriginal Corporation, Tandanya National Aboriginal Cultural Institute, Ku Arts, Better World Arts, Carclew, and Hutt Street Centre.

Across all his artistic practices, M J Turner aims to forge meaningful connections with diverse audiences through the universal language of music and art.

Whether you’re seeking guitar lessons, an arts-based workshop, or a musician for your next event, his creativity and commitment to wellbeing make him a trusted and inspiring collaborator.
